Angelus Domini locutus est

The Angel of the Lord speaks to the women, asking whom they seek and announcing, 'He is risen!' This sacred motet for SSTTB voices sets the Easter Gospel narrative. The text calls the women to come and see the place where Jesus was laid, before proclaiming that he is already preceding them into Galilee, where they will see him as he foretold. The composer Jacob de Brouck's setting uses the Latin text to paint a vivid scene of discovery and divine revelation, culminating in joyful alleluias.
