About Angelus d pastores ait
The text depicts the angelic announcement to the shepherds of the birth of Christ, a message of great joy for all people. The composer sets this sacred Latin text for double choir (SATB.SATB), creating a rich and resonant sound world. The joyful Alleluias, repeated after each stanza, emphasize the celebratory nature of the Nativity. This motet is a fitting choice for moments of reflection and praise, particularly during the Christmas season. Hakenberger masterfully employs the sonic possibilities of his forces to convey the profound spiritual significance of the annunciation.
