About Angelus ad pastores
This radiant motet by Carlotta Ferrari is ideal for Christmas services or concerts. Set for SSAA voices in Latin, Angelus ad pastores vividly portrays the Annunciation to the Shepherds. The text, drawn from the Gospel of Luke, declares the great joy of the Saviour's birth, with the sopranos and altos delivering the angelic message and the exultant 'Alleluia'. Ferrari's setting captures the profound wonder of the event, reflecting the sacred nature of the text with soaring melodic lines and rich harmonies. It offers a powerful and moving musical expression of this foundational Christmas narrative.
