Angeli, archangeli, throni

Cornelius Canis's motet Angeli, archangeli, throni is a powerful invocation in Latin, setting a text that enumerates the celestial hosts and saints, imploring their intercession. The four-part STTB setting unfolds with a clear, imitative texture, the voices weaving together in rich harmony to articulate the grandeur of the heavenly court. The music vividly portrays the vision of the great multitude in white robes, their palms raised, crying out with a loud voice 'Salvation to our God'. The composer's skill in conveying the text's solemnity and exultation makes this a compelling choice for sacred occasions.
