About And doth not a meeting like this?

This familiar SATB arrangement of And doth not a meeting like this? opens with a warm, homophonic texture, immediately establishing the song's reflective and nostalgic mood. The music gracefully supports the text's poignant theme: the joy of reunion with old friends after a long separation. It captures the sentiment of shared memories, the passage of time, and the enduring warmth of past connections. The composer masterfully uses the four voices to create a rich, blended sound that evokes a sense of comfort and shared experience. This popular English folksong, arranged here for mixed choir, is a perfect choice for occasions that celebrate friendship and remembrance, its heartfelt melody and accessible harmonies making it a rewarding piece for both singers and listeners.
