An Awake Heart

Kenneth Langer's An Awake Heart celebrates the radiance of an awakened spirit, likening it to a sky brimming with light. This secular canon, set in English, unfolds with a sense of gentle optimism. Its canonic structure invites voices to weave together, creating a rich, layered texture that mirrors the burgeoning understanding and joy described in the text. The piece is ideal for choirs looking to explore close-harmony writing and to bring a message of inner illumination to life through vocal sound. It offers a reflective yet uplifting experience for both performers and listeners.
