Amour, ie sens

This charming four-part chanson for SATT voices opens with a sense of gentle persuasion, the voices weaving together in a delicate imitative texture. The text, in French, speaks of love's sweet efforts to ignite the singer's heart, a fire so pleasant that he willingly submits to its warmth. He begs Love to carry this same burning desire to the one who ignites his passion, a plea for mutual affection. The music mirrors the text's tender sentiment, with flowing melodic lines and a close-knit harmonic language characteristic of secular Renaissance part-music.
