About Amour et mort
Laurent Bonard's Amour et mort is a secular French chanson for STTB. The text speaks of love and death as conspirators against the singer. Love has removed all hope, and death desires to take him away harshly. Yet, if the singer can find a way to confound this love, he will be secure enough to face death. The polyphony of the chanson tradition often reflects the drama and emotion of the text, and this work is no exception in its exploration of these powerful themes.
