Amor quando m/'invia

This anonymous Italian madrigal for SATT voices explores the complex emotions of love. The text describes how the lover, when sent to gaze upon his lady and his own suffering, finds his heart stolen away as she departs. Yet, upon her return, his soul is restored, carried back to him with her. The music would reflect this dramatic shift from despair to joy, capturing the turbulent feelings of unrequited or separated love within the rich polyphonic tradition of secular Renaissance part-music. This piece offers a poignant musical setting of a deeply human experience.
