so gar hast du all macht zu dir gerissen.

About Amor, du herzschest
This German secular madrigal for treble, treble, and tenor voices captures the spirit of the Renaissance. Orazio Vecchi's composition explores the powerful and pervasive influence of Love. The text personifies Love as a monarch, ruling not only over humanity but also over the animal kingdom, demonstrating its universal dominion. The singer pleads for Love's favour and recognition as a loyal servant, hoping to be rewarded and guided by its will. The music would suit a light-hearted concert programme, perhaps as part of a collection of Italian or German madrigals. The intimate voicing makes it suitable for smaller ensembles.
