Ameni colli by Francesco Soriano — Lyrics
Ameni Colli, vaghi Monticelli,
fresche fontan'e dilettose rive,
di fiori verdi praticelli
ch'à voi pensando il cor s'appaga e vive.

About Ameni colli
Francesco Soriano’s Ameni colli is a delightful canzonetta for three voices (SST). The music unfolds with a clear, imitative texture, typical of the genre, allowing each voice to enter and weave around the others. The text, in Italian, is a secular poem that praises the beauty of the countryside—pleasant hills, fresh springs, and green meadows—and expresses a longing for the presence of a beloved amid such idyllic surroundings. Soriano’s setting captures the gentle charm of the words, creating a light and engaging musical experience that highlights the interplay between the voices.
