These words, drawn from the Gospel of John, speak of the profound mystery of the Eucharist: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.' Jean Guyot sets this challenging text for a large choir, using a rich five-part texture (SSATB) that can also be performed by smaller ensembles (AATTB, SATTB). The music explores the spiritual communion described in the text, where the believer remains in Christ and Christ in them, promising resurrection on the last day. This sacred motet, in Latin, is a powerful musical meditation on the central sacrament of the Christian faith.
