Oratio Moysi, hominis Dei. Domine, refugium factus es nobis a generatione in generationem.
Priusquam montes fierent, aut formaretur terra et orbis,

About Amanda
Alexander Gillet's setting of Amanda is a sacred work for SSTB choir. The text begins with a prayer of Moses, calling God a refuge from generation to generation. It reflects on the fleeting nature of human life, comparing years to a day that has passed or a watch in the night. The lyrics speak of human frailty, with days passing like grass, blooming in the morning and withering by evening. The text acknowledges that human iniquities have been placed before God, and that all our days have passed away in His anger. The piece, sung in both Latin and English, offers a poignant meditation on mortality and divine judgment, drawing from ancient scriptural themes.
