OBONG AMANAM

“Obong Amanam” is a joyful Efik/Ibibio song of thanksgiving and praise, its title translating to a heartfelt declaration that the Lord has done well. The piece is built around a bright, repeating refrain that gives thanks to God the Father (“Obong Ete”) for His goodness toward His people, anchoring the choir and congregation in a shared rhythm of gratitude.

The verses expand on this theme of thanksgiving, acknowledging God’s unmatched nature (“Baba Owo nte kiet ibiet ke'Obong” — no one is like the Lord) and offering praise for the gift of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
