Aller m'y faut by Clément Janequin — Lyrics
Aller m'y faut sur la verdure,
Chercher parti en quelque bonne part,
Etre hardi, joyeux, frisque et gaillard,

Ami je n'ai qui me procure,
Aller m'y faut sur la verdure.
Ami je n'ai qui me procure.

About Aller m'y faut
Clément Janequin's Aller m'y faut paints a vivid pastoral scene, inviting listeners to seek joy and adventure in the green countryside. The text expresses a desire to escape melancholy by embracing a cheerful and lively spirit, yearning for a companion to share in these experiences. The SATB voicing allows Janequin to create rich harmonic textures that reflect the exuberance of the lyrics. This secular French chanson captures the Renaissance ideal of finding happiness in nature and camaraderie. Its lively melody and imitative vocal lines make it an engaging and delightful choice for choirs looking to explore the secular vocal music of the period.
