Alleluia, Tollite jugum

This setting of the Gospel Acclamation for SATB choir offers a powerful musical setting for the Easter season or other festive occasions. The Latin text, drawn from the Mass Propers, calls singers and listeners to take Christ's yoke upon them, learning from his meekness and humility of heart to find rest for their souls. Jeffrey Quick's composition builds upon the fervent "Alleluia" to present a rich and devotional experience. The SATB voicing allows for a full, resonant sound, bringing a sense of grandeur and spiritual depth to this significant liturgical moment. The composer's focus on the text's message of comfort and spiritual peace is evident throughout the music, making it a fitting choice for choirs seeking meaningful sacred repertoire.
