Alla grotta di Bethlehem

This SATB setting of Gian Paolo Dal Dosso's Alla grotta di Bethlehem opens with a sense of hushed wonder, building to a joyful declaration of the Nativity. The Italian text, interspersed with the Latin Gloria in excelsis Deo, recounts the arrival of the shepherds at Bethlehem, guided by a star, while angels proclaim the birth of the Saviour. The imagery extends to the ox and donkey keeping the infant company, and Joseph and Mary offering praise. Dal Dosso's music captures the reverence and exultation of this sacred scene, making it suitable for liturgical occasions or concert programming.
