About ALL HAIL THE POWER
"All Hail the Power" is one of those majestic hymns that immediately lifts the energy in the church the moment the choir takes a breath. Set here to the beloved, cascading "Diadem" tune, it is a grand call to worship that invites everyone—from the angels to the martyrs, and finally to us in the pews—to crown Christ as Lord.
When we sing this piece, the real joy comes in the refrain. The voices echo and chase each other through the repeating "And crown Him" phrases, building up a wonderful, layered wall of sound before coming together in unison for "And crown Him Lord of all." It takes a bit of rehearsal to get the timing of those entries just right, but when the choir locks in, the effect is glorious.
This hymn is a perfect fit for the Feast of Christ the King, or as a powerful Entrance or Recessional song on a festive Sunday. It carries a sense of triumph and reverence that reminds the congregation of the majesty of God, leaving everyone with a lingering sense of awe long after the final chord.
