All' apparir del Sole

Imagine a bright spring morning, the sun's first rays illuminating the landscape. Pomponio Nenna's All' apparir del Sole captures this imagery with vivid musicality. The text speaks of birds singing, roses opening, and violets appearing with the dawn, all inspired by the arrival of a beloved lady, brighter and more adorned than the sun itself. Nenna's SSATB setting brings this secular Italian Renaissance text to life, painting a delightful picture of nature's awakening and the joy of seeing a cherished person. It is a fine example of the madrigal genre, offering a rich and expressive sound world for an accomplished choir.
