Alegres mudanzas by Francisco Valls — Lyrics
Alegres mudanzas previenen festivas
de Belén las zagalas pulidas.
Garbo, donaire, solaz y alegría.
Esta noche esto el día
Que sale de la Madre gracia y la dicha.

About Alegres mudanzas
This vibrant Spanish villancico by Francisco Valls is ideal for Advent or Christmas services. The text celebrates the joyous anticipation of Christ's birth in Bethlehem. It opens with shepherds, "zagalas pulidas," expressing festive excitement, "Alegres mudanzas," and the profound joy that emanates from Mary and the infant Jesus. The imagery shifts to "mira, mira!" – behold! – the tender beauty of the nativity scene, contrasting the humble manger with divine radiance, and the miracle of Christ's arrival transforming sorrow into joy. Scored for SSSB and SSST, Alegres mudanzas is a cheerful and uplifting work, perfect for engaging choirs and congregations alike during the festive season.
