About Ak, Dieva Māte, priecājies (Be Joyful, Mary, Heav'nly Queen)
This sacred setting by Johannes Leisentritt celebrates the Annunciation and the Resurrection of Christ. The text, presented in both Latvian and Latin, addresses Mary as the Heavenly Queen, rejoicing in her Son's victory over death. The SATB voicing allows for rich harmonies as the choir proclaims the good news: that Christ is alive, his sacrifice has atoned for sins, and the promise of salvation is fulfilled. The lyrics urge us to pray to the Blessed Virgin, seeking her intercession for our passage to heaven.
