Omala Ey'Ojo

"Omala Ey'Ojo" is a reverent setting of the Agnus Dei in the Igala language, composed by Henry Nnaji. Sung during the fraction rite just before Communion, it carries the traditional threefold petition of the Mass, asking the Lamb of God for mercy and peace.

The piece is marked Andante, giving it a gentle, walking pace that suits the solemnity of the moment. The choir moves together through the familiar structure—singing "chejumo mi wa" for the first two invocations, before resolving into the final, quiet plea of "debe bo nwu wa". It is a warm, grounded setting that helps settle the church and prepare the congregation to receive the Eucharist.
