About After the storm
After the storm is a four-part setting for SATB choir of an English secular text. The music begins by evoking the calm after a tempest, with the voices of the choir painting a picture of renewed serenity and vibrant colour in the natural world. The composer captures the sense of peace and beauty as the clouds clear and the sky becomes a canvas of rich hues. The text speaks of the earth regaining its verdant freshness and the heavens displaying a brilliant blue, enhanced by a celestial display of crimson and gold. The music explores the imagery of the sky as a majestic expanse, reflecting the divine, and eventually leading to the contemplation of heavenly visions.
