Adversity by Kenneth Langer — Lyrics
Every defeat, every heartbreak, every setback contains its own seed. Each is a lesson on how to improve. Each is the ground on which to grow. Reach high, reach high, keep on reaching higher.
About Adversity
Kenneth Langer's Adversity is a secular canon exploring themes of resilience and growth. The text directly addresses the listener, finding profound meaning in life's challenges. It suggests that every defeat, heartbreak, and setback is not an endpoint but a fertile ground for learning and development. The music is built around the idea of continuous aspiration, urging the singer to 'keep on reaching higher'. This is a powerful affirmation, delivered through the interwoven voices characteristic of a canon, building in intensity and resolve as the piece progresses.
