About Adoro te devote
Franciszek Walczyński composed this SSA setting of the well-known Latin hymn Adoro te devote. The text, traditionally attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas, expresses profound devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The words speak of the senses being deceived, but faith finding certainty through hearing God's word. It contemplates Christ's divinity hidden at the cross and present in the sacrament, and includes a prayer for increased faith, hope, and love, echoing the repentant thief's plea. Walczyński's music provides a setting for this intensely personal and theological reflection.
