Adeste Fideles — Lyrics
About Adeste Fideles
Christmas Vespers or Midnight Mass is the natural setting for this joyous Latin carol. Its familiar words, traditionally attributed to John Francis Wade, call believers to Bethlehem to witness the birth of the King of Angels. The SATB voicing allows for a rich and full sound, ideal for congregational singing or as a centrepiece for a Christmas service. The text progresses from the shepherds' humble adoration to the Magi's wise gifts, urging us to offer our hearts to the infant Jesus. The refrain, 'Venite adoremus', is a powerful invitation to join the heavenly hosts in praising God.
