Accetta questo pane by Luca Sartore — Lyrics
1.
Accetta questo pane,
o Padre altissimo,
perché di Cristo il Corpo
divenga sull'altar.
Che sia la nostra vita
ostia gradita a te;
la vita sia del Cristo,
o Santa Trinità.

About Accetta questo pane
Luca Sartore sets a devotional Italian text in this hymn for SATB choir. The text is a prayer for the Eucharist, asking that the bread and wine offered become the Body and Blood of Christ, and that the lives of the singers may also be an acceptable offering to the Trinity. The music follows the devotional ebb and flow of the words, with homophonic textures supporting the solemnity of the liturgical text. The piece is suitable for use within a Catholic service or as a thoughtful concert item reflecting on themes of sacrifice and communion.
