Abide with me

"Abide with me" is one of those profound hymns that immediately quiets the soul the moment the choir breathes the first chord. Set to William H. Monk’s beloved "Eventide" melody, it is a gentle but urgent prayer for God's presence as the light fades. While it is traditionally an evening hymn, in our parishes it has become a deep well of comfort during funerals, Lenten retreats, and moments of personal trial.
