About ABC - Narození Páně - za svítání
This sacred responsory by Karel Bříza is for two voices, soprano and tenor. The Czech text rejoices in the birth of the Lord, proclaiming "Light shines upon us today, for the Lord is born for us." The music reflects the exultation of the text, with the voices interjecting the refrain "Light shines upon us today, for the Lord is born for us" between verses that describe the earth rejoicing, the heavens proclaiming his justice, and the islands celebrating his glory. The latter verses speak of joy for the righteous and praise for God's holy name. The text is taken from the Old Testament, Psalm 97:1, 6, 11.
