Full Lyrics

Now, ladies and gentlemen, listen, I pray, No doubt you have often been told That singers, when called upon, always complain Of having a very bad cold. Our leaders, the Basses, have spoken the truth, We believe every word they have said; The adage, though ancient, in our case ’tis true, For we have a cold in the head. Yes, the adage is true, as has often been said, We’ve a cold in the throat, in the nose, in the head; But we’ll do all we can in our power to please, But you may have to wait till we cough and we sneeze, For we all have a very bad cold, Yes, we all have a very bad cold. And we are as bad as a Tenor, or Bass, Our singing, the fact will disclose That we are unfit for a musical race, For we have a cold in the nose. And we, like a Tenor, and Alto, and Bass, Excuses can find for each note; We cough and we sneeze with the greatest of ease, You see, we’ve a cold in the throat.
