A Summer Wooing

Jens Klimek’s SATB setting of A Summer Wooing opens with a flowing, lyrical quality, the voices weaving together to capture the gentle imagery of the text. The music reflects the narrative of the wind and the rose, at times tender and at others with a touch of wistful reflection. This English-language choral song, a secular piece, explores themes of fleeting beauty and the indifference of nature, conveyed through a sensitive interplay of SATB parts. The composer’s skill is evident in how the musical lines echo the poem’s sentiments, creating a poignant and evocative experience for both singers and listeners.
