A l'ombre d'un vieux chêne by Romain Bulteau — Lyrics

About A l'ombre d'un vieux chêne
Romain Bulteau's A l'ombre d'un vieux chêne is a charming secular chanson for two-part choir (soprano and bass). The French text evokes a serene pastoral scene, with a lady and her lover finding repose beneath an old oak tree. The gentle surroundings, including a trickling spring and birdsong, inspire beautiful thoughts and dreams, creating an idyllic picture of young love. Bulteau captures the romantic mood of the text through musical settings that mirror the peacefulness of nature and the tender emotions of the couple.
