About A - 12. neděle v mezidobí
Karel Bříza’s setting for two voices, S and T, of a Czech responsory opens with a plaintive melodic line that is soon joined by the second voice in a gently imitative texture. The music moves with a devotional simplicity, mirroring the text’s direct plea to God. The lyrics express a deep personal suffering, borne out of zeal for God’s house and the insults of those who revile Him. Yet, through this hardship, the text turns to prayer, asking for God’s mercy and help in a time of grace. The piece concludes with an uplifting affirmation of faith, urging the poor and those who seek God to rejoice, for the Lord hears the humble and will ultimately be praised by all creation.
