3 Weihnachtliche Lieder by Christian Prein — Lyrics
I.
Ave Maria zart,
du edler Rosengart,
lilienweiß, ganz ohne Schaden,
ich grüsse dich zur Stund
mit Gabrielis Mund:
ave, die du bist voller Gnaden.
Du hast des Höchsten Sohn,
Maria, rein und schön,
in deinem keuschen Schoß getragen.
Den Heiland Jesus Christ,
der unser Retter ist
aus aller Sünd und allem Schaden.
Denn nach dem Sündenfall
wir warn verloren all,
und sollten ewig sein verloren.
Da hast du reine Magd,
wie dir vorhergesagt
uns Gottes Sohn zum Heil geboren.
II.
Still! Still! Still,

About 3 Weihnachtliche Lieder
This collection of three Christmas songs by Christian Prein offers a devotional journey through the Nativity. The first song, Ave Maria zart, addresses the Virgin Mary with reverence, celebrating her role as the mother of Jesus and her intercession for humanity, drawing directly from the angelic salutation and the miracle of the Incarnation. The second and third songs, Still! Still! Still! and Schlaf! Schlaf! Schlaf!, adopt a tender lullaby style, focusing on the quiet intimacy of the manger scene. They depict the infant Jesus resting while angels sing and play, creating a peaceful atmosphere of wonder and maternal tenderness. These settings, for SAB choir and sung in German, are imbued with the sacred spirit of Christmas.
