About 2 Offertorien
Johann Heinrich Rolle's two Offertorien offer substantial liturgical settings for SATB choir in Latin. The first Offertory, 'Gentes applaudite', is a joyous call to all peoples to raise their voices in praise and veneration of God. It overflows with exclamations of celebration, urging a festive and harmonious outpouring of song for a solemn occasion. The second Offertory, 'Te magne Deus', turns inward with a more personal declaration of adoration for God as redeemer and savior. It continues the theme of collective praise, inviting all to honor God with heartfelt devotion and uplifted voices. These works are well-suited for a broad sacred choral repertoire.
